📚 Some afternoons are spent over coffee. Some are spent over books. And the best ones are spent discussing them with people who love reading as much as you do.That is exactly what happened at the Nagpur Book Club September Book Meet on 5th September 2026 at Melody and Malt, Hotel Hardeo.More than 70 bibliophiles came together for an afternoon of books, ideas, questions and lively conversations. Five very different books took us across language, history, identity, self-discovery and popular culture, giving everyone plenty to think about and talk about.The meet was moderated by Dr. Tejinder Singh Rawal, while Rohit Tokhi introduced Nagpur Book Club, its activities and its growing community of readers.Five interesting books were reviewed at the meet. 📕 Shabdon Ka Safar: Vol. 1, 2 & 3 by Ajit WadnerkarReviewed by Dinesh DhawaneHave you ever wondered where a familiar word came from, how its meaning changed or what story lies behind it? Ajit Wadnerkar’s three-volume work takes readers on exactly that journey, making us look at language with fresh curiosity. Dinesh Dhawane’s review brought out the fascinating world hidden behind the words we use every day.📗 The Roma: A Traveling History by Madeline PotterReviewed by Pushpa RathiA journey through the history of the Roma people, their movement across countries and their enduring struggle to preserve identity and culture. The book opened up conversations around migration, belonging, discrimination and the remarkable resilience of a community.📘 You Can Heal Your Life by Louise HayReviewed by Dr. Naznin ChimthanawalaLouise Hay’s much-discussed book looks at the relationship between our thoughts, beliefs and the way we approach life. The review led to an engaging exchange of views on self-awareness, positive thinking and the influence our mindset can have on our lives.📙 Who Were the Shudras? by Dr. B. R. AmbedkarReviewed by Dr. Aakanksha BeleDr. B. R. Ambedkar’s important work examines the origins and historical position of the Shudras in Indian society. It brought history, social structures and interpretations of ancient India to the centre of the discussion, encouraging members to look at familiar questions from different perspectives.📔 Pure Invention: How Japan Made the Modern World by Matt AltReviewed by Dr. Tejinder Singh RawalHow did ideas from Japan become part of everyday life across the world? From karaoke and instant noodles to video games and other cultural innovations, Matt Alt explores the fascinating influence of Japan on the modern world. A book that shows how inventions can travel far beyond their place of origin and transform popular culture.Once the reviews were over, the conversation really came alive.An open house discussion gave members an opportunity to share their thoughts, ask questions and respond to the ideas raised during the reviews. Nagpur Book Club Continues Educational Support for Children at Sadhaar Parivar SansthaNagpur | 17th July 2026Reaffirming its commitment to the cause of education, Nagpur Book Club organised its annual donation drive at Sadhaar Parivar Sanstha’s free study centre on 17th July 2026, at Nimje Niwas, Chitnispura, Mahal, where underprivileged children were provided with notebooks, stationery pouches, craft materials, cookies and other educational and nutritional essentials.For the past ten years, Shri Naresh Nimje and the dedicated members of Sadhaar Parivar Sanstha have been running the free study centre, ensuring that children from economically weaker families receive quality education without any cost. The programme witnessed the participation of social workers, well-wishers and volunteers committed to the cause of education.Addressing the children, Rohit Tokhi, Co-founder of Nagpur Book Club, urged them to attend classes regularly and study sincerely. “Education is the most powerful means of transforming one’s life”, he told the students, and encouraged them to dream big and work hard to build a brighter future.Dinesh Dhawane, Executive Member of Sadhaar Parivar Sanstha, assured the children that the Sanstha and its members would continue to support them throughout their educational journey and provide every possible assistance required for their academic growth.The organisers expressed their gratitude to Shri Vinod Sonkul and Shri Kamlesh Shambharkar, whose generous contributions played a significant role in the success of the programme.Speaking on the occasion, Shri Naresh Nimje, President of Sadhaar Parivar Sanstha, thanked all donors, volunteers and members of Nagpur Book Club for their continued support. He said that while the President and members voluntarily devote their time and resources to the initiative, the teachers who educate the children must be paid an honorarium. Rising operational costs have made it increasingly difficult to sustain the free study centre.He appealed to the citizens of Nagpur to contribute whatever they can so that the education of these underprivileged children continues uninterrupted. “Every contribution helps ensure that no child is forced to discontinue education due to financial constraints,” he said.The collaboration between Nagpur Book Club and Sadhaar Parivar Sanstha continues to demonstrate how collective community efforts can create lasting change by giving underprivileged children the opportunity to learn, grow and build a better future. ...
